I have a confession to make: I am a Shoeaholic.
Most people that know me, know this about me. I’m sure my collection isn’t as large as many people have, but it is larger than normal. I actually don’t know how many pairs of shoes I actually have, but I do know that I could easily wear a different pair of shows every day for 2 months. I’m reasonably certain that I have more pairs of shoes than clothes, or at least complete outfits, by far.
There’s a line in the movie In Her Shoes where Cameron Diaz’ character asks her sister, Toni Collette’s character, why she buys all those shoes if she isn’t going to wear them – she should leave them for someone who is going to get something out of them. To which Toni Collette replies:
I get something out of them! When I feel bad I like to treat myself. Clothes never look any good… food just makes me fatter… shoes always fit.
I completely get that! (And I so want her closet!) I don’t necessarily buy them when I feel bad, but they do make me feel better. I have loved shoes since I was a wee one playing dress up in my grandma’s old clothes. Clothes are nice, and I enjoy food, but shoes DO just fit.
Occasionally I’ll be posting about my favorite shoes, which does sound boring, but I’ll try to not make it too unbearable. And of course there will be pictures, because what’s the point of talking about shoes if you can’t see them?
I call these my Shoes I Wish I Wore More Often But Don’t Because They Aren’t Practical for Tiny Town and I Rarely Get to Go Anywhere, or Barely Worn Part 1. That sounds like porn. I’m hoping I can wear them to the wedding next week, if I can manage to find a dress that will work with them.
You can’t tell from the photo, but these are wedges. I took a few photos of the sides, but they looked stupid. It’s surprisingly difficult to balance on the sides of 3-3/4″ heels and get a good shot. Not that this ^ photo doesn’t look stupid. Sorry you have to look at my feet. But you’ll get over it, or not. Just look at the shoes. And the rug, it’s my favorite rug.
